The Arabish ("we", "us", "our") provides online one-to-one tutoring in Arabic and English. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and, where it applies to you, other data protection laws.
1. Information we collect
- Account and booking details: name, email address, phone/WhatsApp number, country and time zone.
- Learning information: your level, goals, lesson history, attendance and teacher notes.
- Payment information: payments are handled by third-party payment providers. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details (such as amount, date and the last digits of a card or mobile money number). We do not store full card numbers.
- Communications: messages you send us by email, WhatsApp or phone.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
2. Students under 18
We teach students of all ages. For students under 18, a parent or guardian must make the booking and payment and consent to this policy on the student's behalf. Parents and guardians may contact us at any time to review or delete a child's information.
3. How we use your information
- To schedule, deliver and follow up on lessons.
- To process payments, issue receipts and handle refunds.
- To communicate with you about bookings, changes, reminders and support.
- To track progress and improve our teaching.
- To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
Our legal bases are performing our agreement with you, your consent, our legitimate interests, and legal compliance.
4. Live video sessions
Lessons are delivered through third-party video conferencing tools. We do not record lessons unless you have agreed in advance. If a lesson is recorded, it is used only for the student's review and deleted after a reasonable period.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Payment providers, to process your payments.
- Video, email, messaging and hosting providers that help us run the service.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights and users.
These providers may be located outside Ghana. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your data remains protected.
6. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work and, where permitted, to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect site features.
7. How long we keep data
We keep personal information for as long as you are a student and for a reasonable period afterwards for accounting, legal and dispute-resolution purposes. After that it is deleted or anonymised.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, withdraw consent, or object to certain uses. To do so, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
